§ 16.04.020. Definitions

  • As used in this chapter:

    "Alleys" is defined as minor streets or ways which are used primarily for vehicle service access to the back or the side of property otherwise abutting on a street.

    "Cul-de-sac" is defined as a street with one end opened for access, the other terminating in a vehicle turn-around.

    "Easement" is defined as a grant by the property owner of a specified area of his or her land, for use by the public, for a specific purpose or purposes.

    "Plat" is defined as a drawing or map upon which a subdivision is presented.

    "Right-of-way" is defined as a dedicated area of land for the purposes of constructing a public facility of any kind or character.

    "Street" means a way for the vehicle traffic, whether designated as a street, highway, thoroughfare, parkway, road, avenue, boulevard, land, place or however otherwise designated.

    "Subdivision" means the creation of a new addition to the existing townsite of the city, wherein a greater tract of land is divided into two or more lots or parcels for the purposes of the transfer of ownership and building development. Neither the replatting of areas within the existing original townsite and additions to the city, or divisions of land for agricultural purposes into lots or parcels of five acres or more shall be considered within the term "subdivision." Divisions of a larger tract into five or more lots or parcels involving the creating and platting of a new street, however, shall be deemed a "subdivision" for the purposes of this title.
