§ 13.04.010. Management and operation

The city-owned public utilities of the city are its water system and sewer system. Subject to the supervision of the city council, the city-owned public utilities shall be operated by a city employee to be known as superintendent of public utilities, to be employed by the mayor subject to the approval of the city council. The salary of such superintendent shall be paid monthly and shall be such sum as shall be fixed by the city council. The mayor, with the approval of the city council, shall employ such assistant or assistants as may be necessary for the regular dispatch of the work and business of this department. Such assistant or assistants shall be under the direct supervision of the superintendent of public utilities.
